At OR Coffee Roasters, we value the story behind every cup. Ethiopia Ayele Tulu comes from the Bona Zuria region in Ethiopia and is cultivated at 2,190 meters above sea level. Ayele Tulu, a farmer with more than 20 years of experience, established his own washing station and five-hectare farm in 2014. Together with 600 smallholder farmers from the area, he produces high-quality coffee that reflects deep-rooted knowledge and attention to detail.

From November to January, ripe coffee cherries are handpicked, sorted, and pulped at the Ayele Tulu washing station. The combined harvest from his own farm and the surrounding farmers ensures consistency and traceability.

Located in southern Ethiopia, Bona Zuria is known for its high elevation, cool climate, and ideal coffee-growing conditions. The region’s fertile soil and traditional farming methods contribute to the complex and elegant flavor profile of this coffee. Farming here remains small-scale and community-focused, with local producers deeply committed to quality and sustainability.

After pulping, the beans are wet-processed, washed thoroughly and laid to dry on raised African beds in the shade, protecting them from harsh sun while allowing optimal airflow. This slow and controlled drying process ensures an even moisture content of 10–12%, preserving the coffee’s delicate floral and fruity notes. Once dried, the beans are milled and prepared for export with great care to maintain quality throughout the chain.
