Coffee farming in this region dates back to 1953, with the average farmer cultivating around 400 coffee trees on roughly one-third of a hectare.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe cooperative manages three mills — Kii, Karimikui, and Kiangoi — governed by an elected board of seven members, representing each factory area. With 25 permanent staff overseen by a secretary manager, the co-op maintains strong organizational structure and quality control.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePartnered with Sustainable Management Services Limited, the cooperative is actively engaged in a coffee-quality improvement project aimed at increasing both cup quality and yield.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFarmers bring freshly picked cherries to the factory where the coffee is promptly depulped following sorting and separation. The beans undergo fermentation, typically overnight, before being thoroughly washed with fresh river water.
